The foul beast known as the King Black Dragon is highly dangerous to those that aren't prepared. However, if you know what you're doing getting kills here is a cake walk. The King Black Dragon uses a melee attack which can deal up to 30 damage and his dragon breath can deal up to 65 this can be completely avoided using a Super antifire potion, or a normal Antifire potion along with either an Anti-dragon shield or a Dragonfire shield.
This boss is quite easy to kill and also counts as a Black dragon for your Black dragon slayer task.
Fighting the King Black Dragon is needed in order to forge the Royal crossbow. To charge the crossbow all you need to do is get hit by the fire breath attack. There is a 25% chance that the attack will forge the crossbow.

Location
Getting to the King Black Dragon is simple but you will still have to be careful as it involves teleporting to the Wilderness.
Step 1: Click on the world map icon beside the minimap
Step 2: Click on the 'Bosses' Category, followed by 'King Black Dragon'
This will teleport you to level 41 wilderness, you will see two Lesser demons and a ladder.
Step 3: Climb down the nearby ladder
The room you will be in is still considered to be in the Wilderness, which means you are not safe yet. Also inside this room are Poison spiders which are aggressive.
Step 4: Pull the lever on the wall
Step 5: Kill the King Black Dragon
Fighting Strategy
The strategy is very simple in order to kill this boss, with the right set-up you can avoid 100% of the attacks from the King Black Dragon.
The King Black Dragon has 4 styles of attacks:
- Melee attack
- Dragon fire breath
- Frost breath
- Poison breath
It is very easy to prevent taking damage from these attacks.
- Melee attack - To prevent this attack use the protect from melee prayers.
- Dragon fire breath - In order to prevent attack this you will either need to use Super antifire potions or an Antifire potion along with either an Anti-dragon shield or a Dragonfire shield.
- Frost breath - This attack is prevented the same way as the fire breath although you will still get frozen.
- Poison breath - Again, this is prevented the same way as fire breath. However, you will still be poisoned and will need to drink an Antipoison potion to cure this.
As long as you pay attention to the potion timers and make sure your prayer doesn't run out you will take no damage from this boss.
Inventory and Gear Set-ups
Gear
The combat style you use against the King Black Dragon is not very important as any style does well. This means you can take any gear you like. However since you will be entering the wilderness only take what you can afford to lose.
It is recommended to bring either an Anti-dragon shield or a Dragonfire shield in case your antifire effect runs out.
If you are assigned Black dragons as a slayer task, you can wear a Slayer helmet for the increased damage and accuracy effect.
Inventory
You should bring an equal amount of Antifire and Antipoison potions, and twice as many Prayer potions. It is suggested to also bring a small amount of high healing food in case you take damage because your potions or prayer run out.

Drops
The King Black Dragon has a wide variety of drops, but a lot of them have little value. So this boss is more or less something to do when you get bored and want to try something new. However, there is a chance of receiving a pet King Black Dragon upon killing this boss.
