Runecrafting is a skill that allows players to craft their own runes for Magic spells. The experience earned from making runes is small, making Runecrafting a very slow skill to train. It is a very click intensive skill to train.

Getting the Supplies
In order to craft Runes, you require Rune Essence, you can obtain essence by either buying it from the Runecrafting store, mining it in the Essence Mine or killing Abyssal Guardians in the Abyss.
Runecrafting Store
To get to the Runecrafting Store, First you will need to teleport to South Neitiznot
Once there, head into the building to the north of the bank, and trade Cassie. You want to buy either Rune Essence or Pure Essence, at the moment they do exactly the same thing so rune essence is better off as it is slightly cheaper.
While buying essence, buy yourself a talisman of the rune you will be making. You should also make yourself a tiara. When you are at the Runecrafting altar use the tiara on it and it will be enchanted.
While wearing an enchanted tiara you will gain 10% more Runecrafting exp for the corresponding rune.
Talismans can be bought from the Mage of Zamorak inside the Guthix Altar. To get to the Guthix Altar speak to the Mage of Zamorak At South Neitiznot.
Essence Mine
Players can now mine there own essence. To teleport to the essence mine, speak to the Mage of Zamorak at south Neitiznot and ask him to teleport you there.
Non donators will mine rune Essence.
Donators will mine Pure Essence.
Abyssal Rift
The Abyssal Rift is an area in which you can kill Abyssal creatures for:
- Talismans
- Essences
- Pouches (Small to Large)
- Clue Scrolls (Medium)
- Abyssal Charms (Abyssal charms are used to infuse Abyssal Parasite, Abyssal Lurker and Abyssal Titan pouches.)
The Abyssal Rift is also the interface that teleports you to all Altars. Read more about that below.

Training Runecrafting
After you have bought an adequate amount of essence , it's time to start Runecrafting. Teleport to South Neitiznot using your Neitiznot teleports.
The next step is to talk to the Mage of Zamorak who is close to where you teleport in. Once you have found the Mage of Zamorak, you can choose to teleport to the Guthix Altar, the Essence Mine or the Abyss.
Training at the Guthix Altar
Please note that the while a Soul Talisman can be bought form the Mage of Zamorak, it can not be used ot create runes.
If you choose to train Runecrafting at the Guthix Altar, you need to buy talismans from the Mage of Zamorak and charge the pillars sorrounding the Altar. You can do so by using a talisman of the type of rune you want to create on the pillars. Note, you can use up to 4 different types of talismans to create 4 different types of runes. Pillar charges are temporary and will require you to recharge them by using another talisman on them.
You can check the integrity of the pillar and also remove that talisman by right clicking the pillar.
While training at the Guthx Alatr you will earn Runecrafting Points. You will earn one Runecrafint Point per essence crafted. You can view your current Runecrafting Points and your total Runecrafting score in the top left of your screen while inside the Guthix Altar.
Runecrafting Points can be used to buy 'Wicked' set peices and also Runecrafting Pouches. To access the Runecrfting store, trade the Mage of Zamorak at South Neitiznot
As you can see, you can also view your current Runecrafting Point sin the bottom left of the store.
If you choose to train Runecrafting at the Guthix Altar you should ask the Mage of Zamorak to hold some Essence for you seeing as there is no bank inside the Guthix Altar.
The Mage of Zamorak will hold different ammounts, depending on the type of your account.
Regular Players: 300
Donators - 400
Super Donators - 500
Extreme Donators - 1000
To get the Mage of Zamorak to hold your essence, speak to him at South Netizot with noted essence in your inventory.
To get your essence back, simply talk to him again. If you have pouches in your inventory, the essence will automatically fill into these.
Training at normal rune altars
Once you have been teleported into the Abyss, you need to make your way though the obsticles before you can choose which altar you wish to go to. To get through the obsticles you need to have the appropriate tools in your inventory.
When you get past the obsticles you can then choose which altar you wish to train at.
Once at the Altar of your choice, simply left clcik the altar and craft runes.
Tip: holding down CTRL and click on the Essence in your bank will withdraw a full inventory with one click.

The Skill Cape
If you reach level 99 in Runecrafting, you can talk to the Wise Old Man at home to obtain the Skill cape. He is located at home, in the building north of the bank.
The 99 cape costs 150K Gp and comes with a matching hood. Both the Runecrafting cape and hood give +9 bonus to all defense stats.
If you reach 350m experience in the Runecrafting skill you will also unlock the ability to buy the Master Runecrafting Cape. It is exactly the same as the normal Skill cape. However, you can adjust the trim colour to whatever you like. This cape costs 2.5m Gp.
