Introduction

Prayer is relatively simple to train, however, after time it can get tedious and repetitive.

The Prayer skill can be very useful when you are, for example, fighting a very difficult boss monster or fighting other players in any of the many PvP areas. There are two different sets of prayers. The default "modern" prayers are enabled by default, and include prayers up to level 70. For players with higher prayer levels, the Ancient Curses is a much more powerful set of prayers.

Even though Prayer can be very useful, and very rewarding, it is also one of the longest skills to prepare for as you have to get the bones yourself, which can take weeks of grinding.

  • Super Donators can change their Prayers from Normal Prayers to Curses anywhere besides the Wilderness, Minigames, and in Combat situations.

Getting Bones

Bones

You can acquire normal bones by killing any kind of low level creatures around Grinderscape. Unless you have no other option, this method is not recommended, as all types of bones are ranging from marginally to significantly better, and are not very hard to obtain.

A good example of this are Men. You can find many of these by teleporting home to Edgeville, and walking east to a building resembling a warehouse.

Big Bones

Like normal bones, these bones are also very simple to get.

Some good monsters to kill for these bones are Moss Giants, as they aren't hard to kill. You can get to Moss Giants by opening your spellbook and clicking on Combat Training teleports, and choosing the 'Edgeville Dungeon' option at the top, and then walking south to the NPCs.

Dragon Bones

Dragon bones are a great choice for this skill, although they do not give the best XP, there are a lot of dragons located around Grinderscape which makes collection them very quick.

Dragon bones have a 100% drop rate from any dragon in Grinderscape. Killing high level or low level dragons makes no difference for the bones. A decent place to find lots of dragons is the Chaos Tunnel, but be careful as you will have to enter the wilderness to get there.

To get there, teleport to edgville, run east until you are north of around the middle of Grand Exchange. Once there run north, until you see a rift that you can enter around level 10 wilderness.

There are a lot of Dragons found inside the Chaos Tunnel so just search around for them.

Wyvern Bones

Wyvern bones are only dropped by one monster in the game; Wyverns. Wyverns can be found in 'Asgarnian Dungeon ' within the Combat training teleports. Note though, to get to Wyverns, you will need a crystal key.

These keys are dropped from Ice Giants, however they have a very low drop rate and can take a while to get.

When you arrive in the dungeon, you will soon see a cave entrance to one of the cave's sides.

When you see it, go through the entrance (You will need your crystal key).

Once you enter the sub-cave, you will see the high level monsters.

Zogre Bones

Zogre, or Z Bones are the best bones in the game for training the prayer skill. Like Wyvern Bones, this type of bone is only dropped from one monster. This time, they are dropped by the boss Mutant Tarn.

You can find out exactly how to get to Tarn, and how to kill Tarn by reading through this guide.

Frost Dragon Bones

Frost Dragon Bones are only dropped by Frost Dragons. They offer a large amount of XP and if you have decent gear are relatively easy to kill. The only problem is that they are highly dangerous.

Frost Dragons are located in Asgarnian dungeon. This is found in the Combat Training teleport.

Training

Training is pretty straight forward.

To train this skill, all you will need to do is take the bones you have, and bury them in the ground, or by using the on an Altar. Using bones on an Altar gives twice the experience for each bone, that burying it in the ground would give you. So to be as efficient as possible, it's recommended to use them on an Altar. The altar can be found along the western wall of the South Neitznot Bank or in Donor Zone #2.
