This is the Regular Firemaking Guide, the guide for Ironman/ Hardcore Ironman players is found Here.

Firemaking is a skill used to light fires. It is the companion skill of Woodcutting. At the moment Firemaking is almost useless as there are no real benefits to levelling it up.

Getting the Supplies

To train Firemaking all you need is a tinderbox and the logs that you are lighting.

  • You can get your tinderbox at the Edgeville General Store for 1gp

As for the logs, there are three ways to obtain them.

  • Chop them yourself using the Woodcutting Skill.
  • Buy logs from other players.
  • Completing the 'Make the Cut' task by reaching 99 Woodcutting. (Can only be done once)

Experience Table

Firemaking is very simple. All you need to do is click on the tinderbox and then click on the log that you want to burn, you may also click the log first and then the tinderbox, that really doesn't matter.

Log Type Log Picture Levels XP Gain XP with Brawlers
Log V5hKi9L.png 1-15 1.781 3.562
Oak Log 3x8RkX7.png 15-30 4.500 4.500
Willow Log mBqOisq.png 30-45 3.076 6.152
Maple Log hU5Yezt.png 45-60 4.125 8.250
Yew Log cdGjHSy.png 60-75 5.000 10.000
Magic Log H8nwdsU.png 75-99 6.000 12.000

Note: When you reach level 99, xp will get reduced by half.

You would need to burn 62.322 Magic Logs in order to achieve 200 million Firemaking Experience, from level 99.

Players can also gain experience from using an Inferno Adze while woodcutting. When using the Adze, players have a 1/3 chance of gaining burning experience for the type of log they are cutting.

Tips

  • Find an area close to a bank with a large empty space so you can light fires without having to walk around obstacles. An example of a good place to train is the Grand Exchange.
  • Have your inventory set up like the picture shown below, this way you can click on the last Log in your inventory and your tinderbox repeatedly, without having to click on each Log.
