Black Knight Titan

The Black Knight Titan is a powerful boss and can be very dangerous to the unprepared. Initially, the combat level of 1224 might frighten you, but luckily the Black Knight Titan is relatively weak. The Titan's melee attacks will be decreased by about 50% when prayer is enabled, so players should use Protection against Melee, this will bring the maximum melee hit from 74 all the way down to 37.

The Black Knight Titan also has a low defense, making it a very quick fight. The Titan makes up for this by having attacks that will hit very frequently even through armour with great defence bonuses as well as the ability to poison. Lastly, you should always be careful at the Black Knight Titan as you can be skulled while fighting him. This means if you die you will not keep any items if you were to die.

Gear and Inventory setup

The Black Knight Titan uses both melee and range attacks, but never magic, so the obvious best choice in armour would be melee armour. Luckily, melee is also the most effective attack style against the Titan. Players with Torva armour equipped can take advantage of increased max hitpoints that each piece gives, which dramatically reduces the chance of getting killed. For many bosses, the goal is to maximize damage-per-second (DPS), even at the expense of defense. Here, though, defense is much more important. As the next section explains, accessing this boss effectively costs 110m per trip. Therefore, the goal should be to maximize the number of kills per trip, rather than maximizing the speed of those kills. Very rarely you will come across crashers. But if you do come across one, try bringing armour that increases your attacks accuracy and damage to better the chance of getting the kill.

Gear

Here is the best gear to use in each gear slot:

Head: Torva Full Helm > Vanguard Helm > Battle-Mage Helm > Helm of Neitiznot > Berserker Helm

Torso: Torva Platebody > Vanguard Body > Bandos Chestplate > Battle-Mage Robe > Dragon Platebody > Fighter Torso

Legs: Torva Platelegs > Vanguard Legs > Bandos Tassets > Battle-Mage Robe Legs > Dragon Platelegs

Gloves: Barrows Gloves > Vanguard Gloves > Battle-Mage Gloves

Boots: Steadfast Boots > Vanguard Boots > Dragon Boots > Battle-Mage Boots

Amulet: Blood Necklace > Amulet of Fury > Amulet of Glory

Ring: Onyx Ring (i) > Berserker Ring (i) > Eye of the Warrior > Warrior Ring (i) > Berserker Ring > Warrior Ring

Cape: Completionist Cape > TokHaar-Kal (Kiln Cape) > Max Cape > Fire Cape > Ardougne Cloak 4

Offhand: Divine Spirit Shield > Elysian Spirit Shield > Flameburst Defender > Dragon Defender

Weapon: Abyssal Vine Whip > Lava Whip > Bandos Whip > Abyssal Whip

Spec Weapon: Dragon Claws > Dragon Dagger

Inventory setup

The Black Knight Titan has a very dangerous poison attack and will try to use this at least once per kill. The poison damage starts at 17, so bringing poison protection is absolutely essential at this boss, preferably super antipoison as this can protect against poison for 2 kills if you can kill the Black Knight Titan quick enough. The Titan will usually say a taunt when he attempts to poison, but not always, so players should keep an eye on the chat bar below so that they can drink antipoison before taking poison damage. The Black Knight Titan will also periodically freeze players, but this can be safely ignored as there is no reason to move around while fighting.

The inventory setups listed below maximize the average kills you will get per trip by taking advantage of the shark drops. If you get very unlucky on the shark drops than you might have to finish the trip early. On average, though, these are the most efficient setups for getting kills:

Inventory with Strong Gear

With this setup, it is possible to last 72+ kills per trip. Each super antipoison will last for two kills, and overload dose will last for three kills (the overload timer will have run out by the third kill. However, your stats will still be boosted high enough to get a quick kill). The Dragon or Flameburst Defender is included in this inventory setup as well, to use either against crashers or near the end of a trip if there is lots of extra food.

Inventory with Weaker Gear

If you are going to be using gear that is not as strong as the preferred gear, you should bring less overloads/antipoisons as you probably won't be able to last for as many kills. However, it is still possible to last for up to 32 kills per trip. Each antipoison dose should last for one kill but can easily be made to have 2 doses cover 3 kills, and each overload dose will last for two kills. The Dragon or Flameburst Defender is included in this inventory setup as well, to use either against crashers or near the end of a trip if there is lots of extra food.

Getting there

Tips and tricks

Dealing with annoying familiars

It's a small boss room, so it's easy for your familiar to get in the way of you killing the Titan. However, if you run to the location shown and re-call it, it will appear inside the wall and get stuck, allowing you to access your Beast of Burden at your leisure without it interrupting your kills.

Maximising Shark Drop Usage

When you do get the drop of un-noted sharks, it appears as a single shark. But when you pick it up, it fills up all the empty spaces in your inventory. So in order to get the most out of them, give everything you can to your beast-of-burden and drop anything else you have. Then pick up the sharks, and eat as many as you need to regain your maximum hitpoints. Then pick up the items you previously dropped, dropping sharks if you need to. Now if you get hit in the next kill you can eat and pick up the sharks that you dropped.

Between Kills

You can restore your hitpoints between kills by activating the "Soul-split" prayer and attack the skeletons nearby. This will save your food and you do not have to worry about running out of prayer, as there is an altar located outside the boss room. Just make sure you top up your prayer when re-entering the room.

Dealing with other players

The Black Knight Titan is one of the less-crowded bosses; however, crashing is always a possibility. Since it costs approximately 110m just to access the Titan, you don't really want to get there and have to leave immediately, so it's a good idea to check if someone is there first. This can be done by asking over the Shout chat, but you may not get a response.

If someone is at Titan, it's considered good etiquette - not to mention good business - to private message them first and ask when they plan to leave. You might decide to try forcibly displacing them anyway, but at least you'll have the option of knowing when/if they will be gone.

Drops

The Black Knight Titan doesn't have a lot of exciting drops, but it is the only NPC that drops the Blood Necklace, and as mentioned before the shark drop which is very useful in order to stay longer.
